"In Heaven, I believe, walleyes caught are record breaking; all 3's are swishes; the Celtics never lose; and fishing programs are commercial free."
On December 13, 2021, Robert "Bob" Tingley took his final breath on earth and made his way to Heaven. The Dad, Husband, Grandpa, Father-in-law, and Coach - there will never be another like him.
Robert was born on August 19, 1948, in Island Falls, ME, the son of the late Milford (Clair) Tingley, and Helen (Dybowski) Tingley of Coudersport. On June 26, 1971, he married the former Patti J. Burdick, celebrating 50 years of marriage this past year.
Robert graduated from Coudersport High School, Class of 1966 as a star athlete, and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Surveying from Paul Smith’s College. He owned and operated his own surveying business in Coudersport for 41 years, and later enjoyed a part time job at Kaytee's, working in the greenhouse and feed store. He was a member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, and was a successful high school basketball coach for many years, instilling not only his love of the game in his children, but also the many young people who were fortunate to cross his court. Bob enjoyed fishing, winning tournaments across PA and NY like no other, and was an avid hunter, trapper, and outdoorsman throughout his life. One of his simple joys, as well, was spending time with his family, especially his eight grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and mother, Robert is survived by children: Rebecca C. Tingley of Clarence Center, NY; Matthew A. (Mara) Tingley of Raleigh, NC; Kimberly L. Tingley of Nashville, TN; Jason M. (Christine) Tingley of Coudersport; Nathan P. Tingley of Bolivar, NY; Kellie C. Tingley of Buffalo, NY; Sisters Jacqueline (James) Tilley of Coudersport, and Teri (Roger) McDowell of Port Allegany; Grandchildren Gracelyn, Logan, Lydia, Emily, Ethan, Allison, J. Clark, Makenna, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Robert was predeceased by his best friend Oreo, an Old English Sheep Dog that crossed the Rainbow Bridge in April.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 20, 2021, at 11:00 am at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, with Rev. James Campbell officiating. A private burial will follow in St. Eulalia Catholic Cemetery.
