Obituary

Lois L Johnson

Lois L. Johnson passed away at UPMC Charles Cole Place in Coudersport on Thursday afternoon, July 15th.  She was 93,

She was born in Chicago, IL on April 21st, 1928, to William G. and Jennie Thor Larson.  She married Robert. H Johnson, in Chicago, in October 1952, who preceded her in death. To this union, they had 2 children that both survive. Jeffrey (Barb) Johnson of Sierra Vista, AZ, and Lisa Darrin, of Coudersport, PA. Also, surviving are 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

She graduated from North Park College, in Chicago, with an Associates of Arts degree.  Her marriage to Robert, brought her to western Pennsylvania, living in Ridgway, Coudersport, and Kane, where they raised their family.  Upon Robert’s retirement from Stackpole, they relocated back to Coudersport, to be closer to some of their grandchildren.

Lois was an avid reader and was involved in the founding of the Friends Memorial Library in Kane, and she was an active patron of the Coudersport Library. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Coudersport, and she was one of the leaders of the Piecemakers Quilting Circle, and helped send many quilts to the needy around the world. She enjoyed birdwatching, especially hummingbirds.  Cats, baking and cooking were hobbies, as well. Her pies were well-known and loved by many.  She was proud of her Swedish Heritage, and enjoyed making many Swedish foods.

At this time, no memorial service is planned. She will be cremated.  The family requests that memorials can be sent to the Coudersport Library in Coudersport, PA, UPMC Cole Place Activities Fund, or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, also in Coudersport. Lois’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Thomas Fickinger Funeral Home 210 North East Street Coudersport, PA 16915.  To share a memory or condolence with her family visit www.thomasfickinger.com.
