Edwin E. “Ed” Darrin, 75, of Coudersport, died Friday, June 26, 2021 at UPMC – Cole, Coudersport.
Ed was born on May 19, 1946, in Coudersport, the son of the late Elwood “Cy” and Beverly “Eloise” (Lowe) Darrin. He married the former Teresita “Tessie” Maala on October 25, 1975 and they have celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Ed was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1964, and earned an Associate’s Degree from Penn State Altoona. Ed stated his career at Martin Marietta, Baltimore then he worked for Dresser-Rand, Olean but most recently worked 30+ years for Pure Carbon, Coudersport. Ed served on the Borough Council and was a volunteer fire fighter in Coudersport for many years and was a member of various car clubs. Ed loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, target shooting, bowling, photography, reading, old tools and fixing items. He was an amateur historian, with a deep knowledge of Coudersport and Potter County. He had a great passion for classic cars, his favorite being his 1967 Plymouth Barracuda convertible.
In addition to his wife, Tessie Darrin, Ed is survived by a son, Edwin W. “Ed” Darrin of Philadelphia; a brother, Richard J. (Valerie) Darrin of Coudersport; a nephew and three nieces.
Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects Friday July 9, 2021 from 1 to 2pm at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 N. East St., Coudersport. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Gregory Rapp officiating . A private burial will be held in Eulalia Cemetery.
