Russell L. Mahon

Russell L. Mahon, 81, resident of Coudersport, passed away at the Cole Memorial Hospital with his family by his side on August 6, 2016.

Russell was born on November 3rd, 1934,  he was the son of Alonzo and Gertrude (Dow) Mahon.  On Jan. 8th, 1956 Russell married Donna Claire Pepper and had four children, David A. (Dawn) Mahon, Russell “Tim” Mahon, Russina L. (Gary) Francis and Valerie Mosch.  As time went on, they had six grand children, Amber Kline, Tyler Mosch, Angie Francis (Charlie Walkowiak), Brenna Francis, Lindsey Francis, Colin Mahon and Austin Mahon who preceded his grandfather in passing. There is also one great grandchild, Cory Lowery.

Russell worked as a farm hand and milk man for Mason’s Creamery and completed 17 years as the custodian at the Coudersport High School in which he retired from in 1997.

Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and everything about the outdoors. Russell also was very proud of his green thumb when it came to gardening, especially his geraniums.  Russell enjoyed many things in life, but loved the gathering of family and friends at dinner time.

Russell was a member of the L.O.O. Moose lodge in Port Alleghany and a former member of the NRA.

Russell is survived by his wife Donna, children, grand children, great grandchild, brothers- George Mahon (Janet) and Ernie Mahon (Ginger) and sisters- Beverly Luce, Jean Nasto, and Gloria  Jones.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, grandson -Austin Mahon, brothers-Leonard Mahon and Fred Mahon, and sister- Alma Fowler.

Friends and Family are invited to Russell’s Life Celebration on Friday, August 12th, 2016 at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 N. East St., Coudersport, PA, 16915 for a time of visitation from 11am-1pm and  service to follow at 1pm, with Pastor Darrell Justh as Officiant.  Burial will take place at the Eulalia Cemetery.

Contributions can be made to the Alzehimers  Assoc., 1128 State St., Suite 301 Erie, PA 16501, Potter County Hospice, 1001 East Second St., Coudersport, PA ,16915 and St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 3 Borie St., Coudersport, PA 16915 .

The Mahon family has entrusted the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home with preparing these arrangements.
