Robert Hilding Johnson, 85, died January 19, 2016 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, PA.
He was born June 1, 1930 in Ridgway,PA. Son of Manferd H. and Esther Hallstrom Johnson. He married Lois Larson 63 years ago on October 25, 1952 in Chicago. IL who survives.
He worked in radio in Ridgway WKBI, Coudersport WFRM and Kane WADP.
He was a graduate of NorthPark College in Chicago. He was a personnel manager for Stackpole Carbon in Kane and St. Marys until retirement.
He was a certified lay reader for the NW PA Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years. Serving many area churches. Music was his prime enjoyment. Singing in various local groups and the church choir. Also in North Country Voices and Second Chances.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Jeffrey of Lincoln, NE and a daughter, Lisa Darrin of Coudersport, two grandsons, Nathan Johnson of Lincoln, NE and Robert Darrin of Washington, DC, three granddaughters, Jennie Mandigo of Elmhurst, IL, Linnea Darrin of Pittsburgh, PA and Bonnie Darrin of Coudersport.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Coudersport. There is no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3 Borie St., Coudersport, PA 16915.
