Marjorie (Metzger) Gooch

Marjorie M. Gooch, 90, formerly of Coudersport, PA passed away December 13, 2015 at Fairmount Homes in Ephrata, PA.

Born October 1, 1925 in Roulette, PA, she was the daughter of J. Walter and Thelma Matteson Metzger. On November 6, 1943 in Olean, NY, she married Everett N. Gooch who preceded her in death on August 9, 2007.

Marjorie was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church and attended the Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church. She worked beside her husband on the family farm from 1943–1973 and as a bookkeeper at the Citizens Trust Company for over 20 years and as an aide at the Mapleview Nursing Home for 2 years. Among her hobbies she enjoyed oil painting, sewing, and cooking. She was a self taught pianist and sang in the church choir.

Surviving are her children: Karen Gilliland, Troy, PA, Kristine (Dennis) Smoker, Genesee, PA, Jay (Kelly) Gooch, East Earl, PA, Jeffrey Gooch, Schnecksville, PA, Thomas (Michelle) Gooch, Coudersport, PA and Timothy (Rhonda) Gooch, Wellsboro, PA, sister: Dawn Newton, Coudersport, PA, sisters in-law, Wanda Metzger of Lemoyne, PA and Dana Kenyon, of Coudersport, PA 18 grandchildren many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Everett, brother Arthur Metzger and son in-law, Thomas Gilliland.

A receiving of friends and family will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 from 6-8pm at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 North East St., Coudersport, PA and Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 11am – 1pm at Park United Methodist Church, 15 East Third St., Coudersport, PA with funeral services to follow at 1pm. Rev. Scott Ogden and Rev Carl Green officiating. Burial in the Woodland Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Park United Methodist Church, 15 E. 3rd. St, Coudersport, PA 16915, Hebron Seventh Day Baptist Church, 13 E. Carley Hill Rd., Coudersport, PA 16915 or the Coudersport Public Library, 502 Park Ave., Coudersport, PA 16915.
