Lawrence Newton Grigsby, 80, of Clarence Drive, Coudersport, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018 at UPMC Hamot, Erie.

Larry was born on January 18, 1938 in Punxsutawney, the son of the late Lawrence O. Grigsby and Helen (Voss) Van Geuns.

Larry served his country in the Air Force from 1956 to 1960.  He worked for the former Texas International Air Lines, now part of Continental Air Lines from 1961 to 1978.  He moved to Coudersport in 1978 and retired from Morgan Advanced Materials, Coudersport, after 25 years as a Lathe Operator.   In the 1980’s, during his free time, Larry worked as a skate guard at the Magic Valley Skateland.  He loved skating and was so smooth on wheels.  In the 1990’s he also worked at Ski Denton in the repair shop.  He also enjoyed downhill skiing at that time.

Larry was a very active member of the Cole Fitness Center and volunteered at the Blue Marble Co-Op Farm, Genesee.  He loved working in his yard and also loved and looked after the wildlife and ‘little critters” that roamed his property.  Larry also had been a long time supporter of the Teacher’s Pet Rescue, Coudersport.

Surviving are three children, Angela F. Howard of Coudersport; Larry E. and his wife Susan Grigsby of Olean, NY; and Trish L. Grigsby-Connell and her husband Dennis of Townsend, DE; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Howard, Eric Grigsby, Elizabeth Grigsby, Mark Grigsby and Michael Perise, a brother, Roger and his wife Rosalie Grigsby of Caton, NY; a sister, Jeanette and her husband Fred Svirbly of Gardners; and his former wife and close friend, Janice Freeman of Coudersport.
