Janice C. Freeman

Janice C. Freeman, 81, of Coudersport, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024, at her home.   Janice was born on November 22, 1942, in Arnaudville, LA the daughter of the late Elie and Agnes (Bourque) Marks.  She married Thomas C. Freeman on December 27, 1997, and celebrated 14 years of marriage until his passing on September 8, 2012.

Janice retired from Adelphia and earlier in life, owned and operated the Pin Cushion, Coudersport.  Janice was a very active member of St. Eulalia Catholic Church, Coudersport, and worked in the kitchen for all the fish dinners and all dinners at the church.  She enjoyed sewing, alterations, and caring for her yard and garden.  She was responsible for restoring the curtain at the Coudersport Theatre.  She also volunteered at the Sweden Valley Manor and helped residence to the chapel for services.

Janice is survived by a son, Larry (Sue) Grigsby of Olean; daughters; Angela Howard of Warren; and Trish Grigsby of Lewes, DE; a sister, Annabelle Butcher of Lafayette, LA; grandchildren: Eric (Deanna) Grigsby, Elizabeth Grigsby, Mark Grigsby, Gabie Howard, and Michael (Caitlin) Perise, a great granddaughter, Aria Perise, and several nieces and nephews including Carleen Terhune of Lafayette, LA.  In addition to her husband and parents, Janice was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Marks, and Larry N. Grigsby, father of her three children.

Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects, Friday, July 12, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Eulalia Catholic Church, 6 East Maple St., Coudersport where a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am, with Father Chris Wheeler, officiating.  Burial will be in Eulalia Cemetery, Coudersport.

The family suggest memorial contributions in Janice’s name be made to the St. Eulalia Catholic Church.
