James Franklin Hendricks, 81, passed away January 20, 2017 at Sweden Valley Manor.
Born January 29, 1935 in Allentown, he was the son of Elmer and Mary Swank Hendricks.
Jim worked with his father for many years in a family-owned business, Hendricks Displays, as a screen process printer. After the business was sold, he worked in the same capacity for several other companies. He also did some construction work. Later in life he was the night porter at the Fogelsville Burger King.
He was a collector of just about anything old, having a life-long fascination with antiques of all kinds. He was a voracious reader with a thirst for knowledge across many fields. He had a vast library of books on subjects ranging from chemistry, physics, and mathematics to robotics, rocketry, and biology and everything in between. He was an accomplished handyman and could cobble together most anything from junk and scrap parts. He served in the PA National Guard.
Mr. Hendricks is survived by two brothers: Robert Hendricks of Coudersport and Erwin Hendricks of Magalia, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
