George H. Goodyear

George H. Goodyear passed away unexpectedly on October 11, 2021. Born April 20, 1943, he is the late son of George E. Goodyear and Marthanna (Shields) Goodyear. On October 17, 1964, he married Suzanne L. (Williams) Goodyear, who survives.

George was a 1961 Graduate of Otto-Eldred High School. He was in the US Air Force from 1961-65 and then lived in Eldred, PA until 1986 when he moved to Coudersport to start a Nationwide Insurance agency where he worked until retirement.

George absolutely loved to golf.  He was a member at Smethport Country Club and then Coudersport Golf Club.  He was also a member of the American Legion, Post 192. George also liked being outdoors hunting, fishing and working on his property.

George is survived by his loving wife Suzanne, two children – Deborah Goodyear of Olean, NY, Michael (Trisha) Goodyear of Moon Township, PA.  He was also a loving Grandpa to Sierra Teculver, Mariah (Troy) DeClair, Joshua Rogers and Grace Goodyear. He was also a great grandpa to Piper and Riley Teculver. He is also survived by his sisters Betty Connolly of Richmond, VA, Teresa Stock of Viera FL, and brother Jack Wood of the Villages, FL; and several nieces, nephews and many, many friends on the golf course and beyond.

He was predeceased by stepmother Viola Goodyear, step-brother Carlton Wood, brothers-in-law Fred Stock, Jon Connolly and several aunts and uncles.

On Thursday, October 14, visitation will be held at the Park United Methodist Church, 15 East 3rd St., Coudersport, PA from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service will immediately follow. Pastor Greg Rapp will be officiating. Burial will be at Lamphier Cemetery, Eldred, PA.

Memorial contributions in George’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
