David Allen Long

David Allen Long, 74, of Coudersport, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on July 15, 1948 in Coudersport, the son of the late Benjamin Leroy “Buster” and Lillian Dora (Brosch) Long.  On May 13, 1972, he married the former Ruth Ann Lent and they have celebrated 50 years of marriage.

David was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during Vietnam and was a Silver Star recipient. He was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1966 and was a self employed construction contractor.  David served on the Coudersport Area School Board for 15+ years and served as Board President.  He attended the Sartwell Union Church, Port Allegany, and was a member of the Brookland Sports Club.  David was dedicated to his profession and supporting his family.  He also enjoyed supporting the community and helping others.

In addition to his wife, Ruth Ann, David is survived by five children; Ann Marie (Robert) Helsley of Barnesville; Allen (Ruth) Long of Port Allegany; Dr. Amy (John) Long-Mount of Cuba, NY; Alicia (Michael) Davis of Coudersport; Jordan (Amber) Long of Shinglehouse; a sister, Betty Kameck of Olean; brothers, Benjamin Leroy “Benny” (Linda) Long of Galeton; Lloyd (Becky) Long of Olean; 16 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.  In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Augustini.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects Wednesday September 14, 2022 from 12 – 1:00pm at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 N. East St., Coudersport. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm.  Burial with military honors by the Potter County Honor Guard will be in Woodland Cemetery.
