David R. Lawrence
January 29, 1941 — August 2, 2016
David R. Lawrence, 75, of Coudersport passed away August 2, 2016 at Cole Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born January 29, 1941 in Birmingham, Mich. He was the son of Eugene and Margaret Andres Lawrence. In 1976 he married Doris Smith.
He went into the U.S. Army in 1964, serving 2 years, received commendations as a sharp shooter and worked in administration. He was honorably discharged on January 26, 1966. He was also in the Army Reserves.
David attended Williamsport Area Community College where he received a degree in drafting. He then worked as a machinist at Pure Carbon of Coudersport for 43 years, and retired in 2014.
David was a loving husband and devoted father to his 4 step-children and a wonderful “Gumpy” to his grandchildren.
David enjoyed snowmobiling, antique cars and going to car shows.
David is survived by his loving wife Doris, of Coudersport; his step-son, Richard M. Duzick, of Coudersport, and his step-daughters, Christine E. Schmoyer, of Coudersport, Tammy C. Robbins, of Lawrenceville, PA and Cheryl L. Cassady (Todd Simmons), 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 1pm at the American Legion in Coudersport.
