David D. Hiles, 69, of Wharton, died Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on October 22, 1951, in Uniontown, the son of the late Robert and Ethel (Hart) Hiles. He married the former Cheryl Stueber on August 1, 1981 and they have celebrated 40 years of marriage.
David was a graduate of Moon Area High School, Class of 1970 and a veteran of the Army serving in Germany during the Vietnam War. David was a Switching Equipment Technician for Verizon, retiring in 2000 after 30 years of service. David and his wife, Cheryl, moved to Wharton after he retired and they own and operate the Wharton Gazette. David also served as the Cartoonist for the paper.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and art. He was a past President of the East Fork Sportsmens Club and a member of a number of hunting clubs in the area.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Paul Boscia of Greensboro, NC; a brother, Charles Hiles of Montrose, CO; a sister, Wendy (Tim) Williams of Vienna, WV; a granddaughter, Summer Broertjes, and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of David’s life will be announced at a later date.
