David Lee Apple, 83, of Austin, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport. He was born on February 2, 1942, in Dayton, OH, the son of the late Virginia (Guy) Apple. He is the husband of Isleta M. (Weaks) Apple.
David is a graduate of Kiser High School, Dayton and worked for Platt Manufacturing, Dayton, as the Vice President of Operations in the machine shop. After retirement he worked for Seals Pro Hardware, Coudersport, and the Potter County maintenance department. David was a certified rescue diver and shipwreck diver. He also enjoyed woodworking, metal working, floral gardening, and fishing. He also loved working on old cars, earlier in life his love for old cars also included drag racing. David was a jack of all trades and built his family four-bedroom home in Austin. David had the best sense of humor and loved being around people, he was loved and will be missed by many.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by daughters: Julie (Stuart) Billington of Tipp City, OH; and Devon (Joseph) Mack of Pittsburgh; grandsons: Jared and Thomas Billington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis (Brock) Apple, and a sister, June Rae Wilhite.
A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the American Legion, Potter Post 192, 2 Buffalo St., Coudersport, PA, from 1-4 pm. The family suggest memorial contributions in David’s name to be made to the Teacher’s Pet Rescue, 19 Blackberry Ln., Coudersport, PA 16915, or Volunteers That Care, P.O.
