Dave K. Lush

November 15, 1958 — November 21, 2025

Coudersport

Dave K. Lush, of Coudersport, died at his home on November 21, 2025, with his wife holding him, family and the Hospice Chaplin praying over him. He was born on November 15, 1958, the son of the late Frank Lush and Inez Lush, who survives.

Dave graduated from Galeton High School, Class of 1977, and received his BS in science from Allegheny College in 1981. Dave was also a graduate of the Dale Carnegie School for Public Speaking.

Dave married his beloved wife, Sue, on August 24, 1991.

Dave worked for Lush Brothers Furniture, managed Lush True Value Hardware Store, Galeton, for 10 years, he helped his brother set up Tristate Furniture Delivery Service. Dave also owned and operated Lush Victorian Bed and Breakfast for 7 years.

Dave had an innate ability to read, absorb and regurgitate information, sometimes too much, which made him a perfect fit for Potter County Human Services CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance) and Medicare Outreach Programs. He travelled to local events, especially on the weekends to provide citizens with Medicare information, so the person could make the right decision for themselves, as to what their needs/solution worked best.

Dave was then an Area Aging Care Manager including Apprise and Adult Protective Services. Always willing and wanting to help consumers in the county, especially during Medicare Open Enrollment. Dave was then recruited by Humana and became a licensed Medicare Insurance Agent, traveling to 4 counties to assist people in navigating the confusing Medicare programs and prescription drug plans.

In addition to his wife and mother, Dave is survived by his brother: Steve (Nanette) Lush of Cornelius, NC; his niece, Danielle (Mike) Boyle of Huntersville, NC; great nephew, Asher Boyle, first cousins: Marilyn (Dennis) Gehringer of East Petersburg, PA; Bill (Lisa) King of Rochester, NY; brothers-in-law: Ricardo Wolcott of Bologna, Italy; Randy (Jennifer) Wolcott of Brentwood, TN;; sister-in-law Diane Wolcott, Fairport, NY; and nephews, Perry (Courtney) Wolcott, Nashville, TN; and Parker Wolcott of Hermitage, TN . In addition to his father, Dave was preceded in death by his grandparents: R. Otto and Edna Lush, and Keith and Inez Asher.

Dave previously belonged to the Galeton Rotary Club and was past president, he was an EMT in Galeton for several years, he also belonged to the PHI KAPPA PSI fraternity, and the Shade Tree Commission, Coudersport.

Dave loved kayaking, mountain biking, canoeing, and camping. He was an incessant reader and builder of his own knowledge, concentrating on the sciences, geology, weather, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Dave was also a large rock specimen collector.

Dave’s greatest pleasure can be best described as helping those less fortunate, either in person or anonymously.
