A True Gentle Man, passed away at the Sweden Valley Manor on April 2nd, 2016 with his loving wife at his side after a long battle with cancer.
Born on July 20th, 1928 the son of Simeon and Wanda May Kimball Baker. He graduated from Coudersport High School.
On April 12th, 1952 Fred married Beverly June Freeman Baker.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1946 and then re-enlisted in Air Force serving a total of six years. Fred was honorably discharged on August 6th, 1952.
He worked for a short term at Pierce Glass in Port Allegany, was a co-owner of an auto service business in Lawrenceville, Pa, and retired after 28 years service as a meat cutter for Market Basket Stores at several locations.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, brother-in-law Basil (Bucky) Freeman, sister in-law Janice Freeman,
and several nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, John S. and Clarence L. Baker. Three sisters, Claudia Baker Swartout,
Vera Elvina Baker Kernahan and Thelma Marie Baker Quimby.
Friends and Family will be received at the Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 North East Street, Coudersport on April 5th,2016 from 1pm-3pm and service to follow at 3pm. Burial will take place in the Sweden Hill Cemetery.
