Betty J. Anderson

Betty J. Anderson, 96, of Coudersport, formerly of St. Marys and Ridgway, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021 at UPMC – Cole, Coudersport.

Betty was born on October 27, 1924 in Bradford, the daughter of the late Harry M. and Pearl P. (Senior) Hill.  She married Carl Anderson on August 17, 1946 and they celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing in 1997.

Betty was a graduate of Ridgeway High School and a Navy veteran.  She belonged to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Coudersport, the Coudersport Senior Center, the knitting club at the Coudersport Public Library, and the quilting group at St. Paul’s. Betty was also a past Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Penn Elk Chapter.   She enjoyed reading, quilting, caring for her flowers and playing cards.

Surviving are a son, Karl “Andy” (Annie) Anderson of Westminster, CA; daughters, Becky (Justin) Krellner of Coudersport; and Betsy Anderson of Richmond, VA; seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a great great grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by three children, Craig, Janice and William “Billy” Anderson, and three siblings, Harry Hill, Jr., Priscilla Sundell and Evelyn Stark.

A Memorial service will be held July 24, 2021 at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3 Borie St., Coudersport, with Rev. John L. Kallerson officiating.

The family suggest memorial contributions in Betty’s name be made to the Coudersport Public Library, 520 Park Ave., Coudersport, PA 16915 or the Coudersport Senior Center, 171 Route 6 West, Coudersport, PA 16915 or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3 Borie St., Coudersport, PA 16915.
