Barbara A. Purdy, 55, of Austin, PA passed away February 23, 2017 in Erie, PA at UPMC Hamot.
Born May 7, 1961 in Coudersport, PA she was the daughter of Robert and Betty Lindsley Coons.
Barbara was a graduate of Austin High School, Austin, PA. She had served as treasurer for the Boy Scouts, Austin Troop 524. She was a volunteer at the Austin School District, member of M.A.D.D. and was well known for her great cooking.
Barbara is survived by her husband; George Herzing, children; Brandon and Timothy Purdy, both of Austin, PA, Emily Purdy, of Baltimore, MD, two step-daughters; Anne Marie and Marianne Herzing, granddaughter; Elaina, two sisters; Robin McGuire of Pittsburgh, PA and Karen Cooney of Smethport, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Barbara’s memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the Austin United Methodist Church at 12:00pm, Pastor Steven Small officiating. A receiving of family and friends will be held prior to the service from 10:30am-noon. Burial at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery.
