Adelaide T. (Teater) Gates

Adelaide (Addie) T. Gates, 94, of Coudersport, PA passed away at her home December 10, 2016 while surrounded by her family.

Born July 4, 1922 in Genesee, PA she was the daughter of Clifford L. and Ruth Bishop Teater.

On July 20, 1951 in Genesee, PA she married  Edwin Dwight Gates who preceded her in death August 22, 1976.

Addie was graduate and Valedictorian of Genesee High School, class of 1940, a 1943 graduate of Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing and a 1974 graduate of Mansfield State College with a bachelor of science degree.  In her career of nursing she served as a private duty nurse in Sayre, school nurse in Harrison Valley and Ulysses, Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, NY, Potter County Hospital, Coudersport High School and Austin High School as school nurse. She was a member of the Park United Methodist Church, Coudersport Office Girls, Order of Ulysses Chapter 95, past worthy matron and 25 year member of New Century Club.  She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, reading and mowing her lawn, but truly loved spending time with her family.

Addie is survived by her daughters Ruthanne (William) Fridley of Towanda, PA, Nancy (Gordon) Hackendorn of Newark, DE. And Marcia (Neil) Austin, Coudersport, PA, brother; Donald Teater of Jamestown, NY, 3 grandsons:  Brian (Jan) Fridley, Ben Austin, and Brad (Sarah) Austin, 1 granddaughter:  Gayle (Elan) Salee, 1 great-grandson, 3 great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter; Carol Francis and brother Benjamin Teater.

Friends and family are invited to Addie's visitation from 12noon to 1pm Saturday February 4, 2017 at the Park United Methodist Church in Coudersport, with a memorial service to follow at 1pm in church.

Memorials may be made to the Park United Methodist Church, 15 East 3rd St., Coudersport, PA
