Genevieve Ann Walsh Johnson, 89, of Odin, PA passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at her home.

Born February 9, 1928 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of J. Edward and Dora Berktold Walsh. On January 7, 1950 she married Ormal R. Johnson who preceded her in death June 7, 2010.

Genevieve graduated from Queens College in New York, with a Masters Degree in nursing and worked for many years at Kings County Hospital in New York. She was a member of the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Austin, PA. She was also a member of The Get Together Club of Austin and Wharton, PA and  Kings County Hospital Alumni Association.  She knitted and crocheted for many years. She traveled the world with her husband, Ormal after retirement. She loved spending time with her family and friends and acted as family anchor, keeping extended family in touch.

Genevieve is survived by her children; Carl R. Johnson, Coudersport, PA, Paul J. Johnson and his wife Theresa of Warwick, NY, Stephen G. Johnson and his wife Luz of Kansas City, KS and Ellen Chancia and her husband Richard of Marcy, NY;  grandchildren, Patricia Johnson, Elizabeth Black and husband Jason Reczkowski , Caroline Chancia,  Thomas Johnson, Christopher Black, Robert Chancia, Daniel Johnson and Marissa Johnson;  great grandchild, Benjamin Reczkowski; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ormal; daughters, Patricia Johnson and Christine Black;  brother,  E. Joseph Walsh; sisters, Sr. Dorothy Walsh, Ellen Gregory and Rita Gregory.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 11am at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Austin, PA, with Rev. Joseph Dougherty officiating. Family and friends are invited to call one hour prior to service from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, P.O. Box 271, Austin, PA 16720
