Lewis Eccher of Coudersport, Pa, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 4, 2017 at Charles Cole Memorial hospital.  He was born on December 13, 1925 in Olean, NY.  Shortly there after his family moved to Bucks county where they operated a family farm. Lewis and his brothers started one of the first Willys Jeep dealerships in the United States.  Although qualifying for an agricultural deferment, Lewis joined the Navy, Serviceman Third Class, and proudly fought for his country in WWII.  Upon returning, he met and married his wife of 65 years, Evelyn, who predeceased him on July 8, 2016. 

  Lewis and Evelyn moved to the Coudersport area in 1970.  They owned and operated several small businesses until retiring and building a house on top of Jenkins Hill.  During his retirement he enjoyed the peaceful country life.  He loved nature and appreciated wildlife.  Lewis  stayed at home during most of his illness with the loving care of his friend, Toy Anderson.

   He is survived by: a daughter Laurette (Laurence) Patterson, of Saxonburg, PA, a son Craig (Brenda) Eccher, of Wellsboro, PA, five grandchildren, Jenna (Derek) Acorn, Alexandra Patterson, Jordan Eccher, Kyle Eccher, and Emma Eccher.  His first great grandchild, Brooks Acorn, was born in September 2016.  He is additionally survived by a brother, Joseph Eccher and a sister Theresa Jesiolowski.  Predeceasing him were two brothers and two sisters. 

   There will be a family memorial service in the future.  Fickingers's of Coudersport is assisting the family with arrangements.  If desired donations in his memory may be made to Long-Term Care at Cole Memorial Hospital.
